Henley, a Poem
Printed by and for Hickman and Stapleton, 1827.
First edition. 8vo. Large paper issue, printed on superior laid paper, with uncut edges. Pale blue paper covered boards lettered in black. Fold out frontispiece depicting a river view form Henley. A very good copy, rebacked, with some wear to the corners. Fold out plate frontispiece with spots of foxing.
The special issue of an extremely rare piece of Henley poetry, printed in Henley. This issue differs from the standard issue (itself rare) in that is printed on superior laid paper with a larger page size and uncut edges, whereas the standard issue was on wove paper, with the edges trimmed to give a smaller margin. This issue was also bound in boards and priced at four shillings where the standard issue was issued in wrappers and priced at 1/6.
The author is not named although a contemporary review in the Literary Gazette puts forward a case for the author being a Mr Richardson.
