Edward Spencer, who wrote under the pseudonym Nathaniel Gubbins, was a prevalent journalist and writer, beginning his career at the Sporting Times in the late 19th to early 20th Centuries. There is literary references throughout from biblical stories, to 'The Drink of Dickens'.
