Early edition. 12mo. Sage green paper covered boards and spine lettered in white, with pictorial onlay. Pictorial endpapers and colour illustrations by the author. A very good copy indeed, with a little wear to the spine ends.
Leslie Linder writes, "Beatrix Potter was familiar with all the characteristics of frogs, and in her journal we find how at the age of seventeen she studied and played with frogs. She knew how important it was for her stories to be true to nature, and realised that only by careful study and observation could a writer fulfil this objective."
