In the original dustwrapper with wood engravings decorating the upper panel. Printed on hand made paper. Wood engravings by John O'Connor. A fine copy with previous owner's name on the free front end paper, in a very good dustwrapper indeed with fading to the spine and a small short closed tear to the head of the spine.
A beautiful private press edition of Farnie's 1857 golf classic, introduced by Bernard Darwin.
John O'Connor studied wood-engraving under Paul Nash, and later exhibited at the Royal Academy. Today, his work can be seen in the Tate Gallery and the British Museum in London.
