First edition, first issue. Original blue cloth lettered in gilt to the spine and decoratively blind-stamped to spine and upper cover. Forty steel and wood engravings by the author. A fine copy, bright and fresh. Fractional toning to the spine, with a scarcely perceptible repair to its head and a trace of wear to the bottom edge. A magnificent copy of a book seldom found in fine condition.
The exceptional Manney copy of Vanity Fair.
This copy is of the earliest issue according to Van Duzer, with the heading of p.1 in rustic, the suppresed woodcut of the Marquis of Steyne to p. 336 present, and "Mr Pitt" for "Sir Pitt" to p. 453.
