The Tale Of The Children Of Húrin. Edited By Christopher Tolkien.
Harper Collins, 2007.
First edition. Publisher's blue paper covered boards, in the original pictorial dustwrapper by Alan Lee. Illustrated by Alan Lee. A very good copy in a near fine dustwrapper.
One of the 'Great Tales' of Middle-earth, being one of three stories from The Silmarillion that Tolkien thought were deserving of a standalone book.
The story has its origins in the First World War, long before the conception of The Hobbit, when Tolkien began to write his 'Book Of Lost Tales'. These were revised and amended throughout Tolkien's lifetime, and he saw The Children Of Hurin as "integral to the history of Elves and Men in the Elder Days."
