First edition, first issue printed on wove paper with the sun device on the upper cover printed in a lighter shade of purple and with nine points. Single quire, wire stitched, publisher's wrappers printed in black and purple. A near fine copy with a trace of surface dustiness to the wrappers.
Heaney's first published work, published at Queen's University, Belfast, Heaney's Alma Mater from 1957-61. There are three separate printings of the work, often referred to as issues, with only subtle differences between the first two. The first issue is rare.
