[FLEMING, Ian] SELLERS, Robert The Battle for Bond The Genesis of Cinema's Greatest Hero

Tomahawk Press, 2007.

First edition. 8vo. Original pictorial paper wrappers. Signed by Sellers on the title page, and by Sylvan Whittingham Mason (daughter of Thunderball's screen writer, Jack Whittingham) on the Acknowledgements page. Illustrated throughout in colour and black and white. A very good copy, slight edge wear.

The first issue of the story behind Kevin McClory's 40 year legal battle over the rights to the screen version of James Bond. Includes a wealth of previously unseen papers from the 1963 court case, and details from unpublished letters by the principal characters in the Thunderball trial. The court ordered unsold copies of this edition to be pulped, and later versions did not include either the court documents or Raymond Benson's introduction, both present in this edition. Uncommon, particularly so in a signed state.
