First edition. One of three hundred numbered copies on velin de rives, from a total edition of 325, this copy numbered 311. In the publisher's original folded paper wrappers, and glassine. Sixty illustrations in colour and line by Berthold Mahn, including pictorial endpapers, frontispiece and decorative title page, and illustrations throughout the text. A near fine copy, with a little wear to the head of the spine and a couple of tears to the glassine with a little loss. Remarkably fresh and bright internally, with many pages unopened.

A delightful French children's story with charming illustrations by Duhamel's frequent collaborator Berthold Mahn.
