or the Contemplative Man's Recreation: being a Discourse of Fish & Fishing not unworthy the perusal of most Angers
The Compleat Angler or the Contemplative Man's Recreation: being a Discourse of Fish & Fishing not unworthy the perusal of most Angers
Hodder and Stoughton, 1911.
First edition illustrated by Thorpe. Green cloth with gilt lettering and vignette. Pictorial endpapers and twenty five colour plates, mounted under captioned tissue guards, one of which is torn but complete, and each of which has a line drawing of a different fish. A very good copy indeed of this classic fishing tale. Some light browning to endpapers and page edges.
Walton's discursive style makes this book much more than a standard fishing manual. It's popularity making it the second most reprinted book in the English language, after the King James Bible.
