First edition. Original orange cloth elaborately decorated in gilt, in rare original printed dustwrapper. All edges gilt. Eight colour plates and many black and white illustrations by H.J. Ford. A fine copy, exceptionally fresh with sparkling gilt in a very good dustwrapper, which is principally complete with some fraying to the edges and a small chip to the base of the rear panel and internally repaired tears to the joints, with a little loss at the front fold.
Lang's fairy books are most uncommon in dustwrappers.
Fairy stories are from Scotland, France, Scandinavia, Rhodesia and Uganda amongst many other countries, and includes the Tale of the Ugly Duckling.
