First edition. Green cloth lettered in gilt. Inscribed by du Maurier on the front free endpaper "For Foy - because of a / ride to the Lizard in 1930. / with love and gratitude / Daphne / April 1932" A very good copy of Du Maurier's second novel.
Foy Quiller-Couch and Du Maurier were great friends and enjoyed riding together through the Cornish countryside and discussing Daphne's ideas for story lines and plots. The Lizard referred to in the inscription is a Cornish peninsula situated in an area of outstanding beauty.
