First edition. 8vo. Red cloth with silver titles and pictorial dustwrapper. Illustrated throughout with line drawings by Peggy Fortnum. A near fine book, repaired tear to one page and minor spotting to the page edges, in a near fine dustwrapper, which is bright and clean, slight wear to the spine ends.
The first appearance of Paddington Bear, who arrives from Darkest Peru and is found in Paddington station and looked after by the Brown family. Printed in a small print run this first Paddington book is now quite elusive.
