CHRISTIE, Agatha The Hollow

The Crime Club, Collins, 1946.

First edition. Publisher's red cloth with black lettering on the spine. Author's presentation copy, inscribed to Leonard Woolley on front endpaper "Len with best wishes from Agatha Xmas 1946". A very good copy with fading to spine ends.

Sir Leonard and Katharine Woolley were good friends of Christie and her second husband, the archaeologist Sir Max Mallowan.
Mallowan's archaeological career began as an assistant to Woolley at the excavations at Ur in southern Iraq, and through this friendship and tutelage Christie met Woolley's wife Katharine, on whom the character of Louise Leidner in Murder In Mesopotamia is purportedly based.
