An unpublished, gossipy, card from Evelyn Waugh to Christopher Sykes. One side of a Combe Florey House postcard.The postcard discusses A. J. Balfour's infidelity, of which Waugh was "glad to learn", the Charteris family, "notoriously lax in all its members in all morals", Harold Acton and the upcoming publication of Waugh's last book Basil Seal Rides Again, noting that "Miss Kathleen Hale of the Marmalade Cat has be a very pretty frontispiece for the story which I hope to send you next Christmas."
PROVENANCE: From the estate of Christopher Sykes, with his markings in pencil. One letter of seven housed in an envelope marked "Letters not given to Mr Amory". Mark Amory was the editor of The Letters Of Evelyn Waugh, in which this letter is not published.
