A collection of essays and sketches, which are are full of "nimble wit, bright fancy, and subtle perception of beauty", written "in the author's pleasant, characteristic manner" [Preface] were originally published in various late Georgian literary magazines, including The Reflector and The Indicator, both of which were edited by Hunt.
