Being "When We Were Very Young" and "Now We Are Six" with a preface for parents.
The Christopher Robin Verses Being "When We Were Very Young" and "Now We Are Six" with a preface for parents.
Methuen, 1932.
First edition of this combined book of verses, with new colour illustrations by E.H. Shepard and a new preface by A.A. Milne, first issue with blue cloth and gilt lettering and vignette. This copy complete with the original pictorial dustwrapper, with printed price of 8/6 net. 8vo. Top edge blue. Twelve colour plates and many line drawings by E.H. Shepard. A near fine, bright copy just the odd spot of foxing to the page edges, in a near fine dustwrapper, which has some fading to the red spine vignette and an unobtrusive mark to the upper cover. Uncommon in such lovely condition.
It was always probable that, sooner or later, the two books of verse which I had written for and about children would come together within the covers of one volume... the invention of a title has proved too much for me. All I can think of is The Christopher Robin Verses. New colour illustrations by E.H. Shepard accompany Milne's now famous poems, Vespers, The King's Breakfast, Lines and Squares and many others.
