First edition. 8vo. Original lilac cloth with gilt titles and design to the spine and upper cover. All edges gilt. Six colour plates and numerous steel engravings by Henry Ford. A near fine copy, with the colour inevitably uniformly faded, but unusually the boards have retained a hint of the fugitive lilac colour. Endpapers browned but overall a very nice copy.
The last of the Lang coloured fairy books, difficult to find in its original cloth, which due its light colour has a propensity to grubbiness. The fairy stories come from Ireland, Scotland, Wales, France, Portugal, Scandinavia and India.
