Fourth edition. Publisher's green cloth with elaborate, festive gilt design and titles to spine and upper cover. Title page and illustrations throughout by Caldecott. A near fine copy, with abrasion to the front end papers, otherwise exceptionally bright and crisp cloth.
After the dance was concluded, the whole party was entertained with brawn and beef, and stout home-brewed. This festive Christmas tale was inspired in part, by Dickens' A Christmas Carol. Splendid suppers and rural churches, cheerful dances and hearty spirits imbue this short novel with the magic of the season.
