First edition illustrated by Rountree. 4to. In original green pictorial cloth with elaborate gilt decoration to spine and colour illustration to upper cover. Top edge gilt and line drawings on the endpapers. Wonderfully illustrated with ninety two colour illustrations, many of which are full page, all packed full of colour and action. Each page is printed on coated stock which gives the book a luxurious feel. A fine copy, previous owner's gift inscription on the front endpaper. An uncommonly nice copy.
Rountree's illustrations are a riot of colour, suiting this wacky tale to perfection.
