Jamaica Inn

DU MAURIER, Daphne

DU MAURIER, Daphne Jamaica Inn

Gollancz, 1936.

First edition. Original blue cloth with dark blue titles. In the scarce original yellow dustwrapper printed in black and red. A very good copy indeed of the book. The dustwrapper is uncommonly clean, with a chip to the upper cover and two smaller nicks to the lower panel.

Du Maurier's famous work of smuggling and intrigue was influenced by the author's childhood reading of the adventure tales of Robert Louis Stevenson and by a trip to the eponymous hostelry when she went riding on Bodmin Moor.
