Autograph Scrapbook
1924.
Quarto. Original padded morocco. An extensive autograph album, the first forty pages of which are devoted to cricketers from the 1920s. The 1924 players of the seventeen first class counties are represented, as are Oxford and Cambridge, and the four test cricket playing nations at the time, the 1924 South Africans, the 1926 Australians, the 1928 West Indians (on their inaugural test tour) and the 1924/5 England touring team to Australia. In addition there are two signed post cards of Jack Hobbs, signed post cards of Frank Woolley and Herbert Strudwick, a post card of the Middlesex batsmen, Dales, Lee, Hearne and Hendren signed by all four and a postcard of the 1924 South Africans signed by eleven players. Most signatures are directly on the pages of the album, but a number are clipped and pasted in. Very good condition, with some splits to the binding at the spine ends and minor fraying to a couple of leaves.
An exceptionally comprehensive collection of signatures for English domestic and international cricket in the mid 1920s. In total over 400 signatures of 1920s cricketers including Hobbs, Suttcliffe, Woolley, Larwood, Warner, Tate, Rhodes, Woodfull, Ponsford, Macartney, Grimmett, Nunes, Constatine and Nourse.
Also included is a pressed poppy, labelled "FlandersPoppy, Hill 60 Ypres, Lest We Forget."
