Finely bound in two volumes by Wood in contemporary blue crushed morocco,with a gilt border and elaborate tooling to the covers and raised bands and gilt titles and scrolls to the spines. Marbled endpapers with gilt dentelles. Top edge gilt. Photogravure frontispiece of the author and 106 full page photographic plates as called for. Additionally illustrated with a further 70 black and white plates, mainly mounted from Victorian cricket books and periodicals, bound in to relevant sections. A near fine copy, with a touch of fading to the spines and some foxing throughout. A sumptuously presented set, aptly reflecting the style of Victorian cricket.
