John Wisden's Cricketers' Almanack for 1881
John Wisden & Co., 1881.
Original publisher's buff paper wrappers printed in black. A fine copy, exceptionally clean and crisp with a faint damp stain to the upper wrapper but the spine entirely intact.
The eighteenth issue of Wisden records MCC and the counties matches throughout the 1880 season, as well the Australian tour which included the first Test Match (a term not at that point invented) to be played in England, at the Oval which was won comfortably by England thanks to a masterful 152 by W.G.Grace playing in his first Test.
Wisdens from this period are seldom found in original wrappers without significant repair or damage and are particularly rare in such sparkling condition.
