DULAC, Edmund A Fairy Garland Being Fairy Tales from the Old French
Hodder & Stoughton, 1928.
First edition. 8vo. Blue cloth lettered in gilt on the spine, in the original printed dustwrapper with title labels printed in black. Twelve colour plates by Dulac. A fine copy in a very good dustwrapper indeed with some fading to the spine, and wear to the head of the spine.
The illustrations in this book are predominantly greens and are similar to those used in Dulac's representation of Treasure Island, but quite different to his earlier work. F.J. Harvey Darnton comments that "Dulac... provides the student of folk lore with a charming history lesson". The fairy tales include Puss in Boots, The Blue Bird, and Mayblossom.
