First U.K. edition, with illustrations by Jessie Willcox Smith. 8vo. Blue cloth with gilt lettering and colour illustration laid onto upper cover. Top edge gilt. Pictorial endpapers. Twelve bright colour plates, two with small short closed tears to the outer edge of the border (p.4, 11), and numerous drawings throughout the text by Jessie Willcox Smith. A near very good copy, with marks to the rear covers and slight splitting to the hinges. Contemporary ownership inscription to the front blank endpaper.
This is a charming book, containing Stevenson's much loved verse, such as Bed in Summer and The Land of Counterpane, and Jessie Willcox Smith's dreamy illustrations which match the poems very well indeed.
