The Tailor of Gloucester
F. Warne & Co., 1910.
Early edition. 12mo. Maroon paper covered boards and spine lettered in white and with pictorial onlay of the Tailor. Pictorial endpapers and colour plates by the author. A near fine copy, with very slight toning to the spine and a small abrasion to the margin of the frontispiece.
Although this was the second story to be written by Potter it was the third to be published by Warne. The story came to fruition, whilst Potter was visiting her cousin, Caroline Hutton, who introduced Beatrix Potter to Gloucestershire. Leslie Linder detailed that Beatrix Potter "sat on a doorstep in one of the streets of Gloucester in the hot, Summer sunshine, sketching a snow-scene for her story!"
