Inspired by a trip to the zoo to see a bear, and his son Christopher's teddies, A.A. Milne proceeded to write one of the most renowned children's books of all time.
On its publication Winnie the Pooh was met with enthusiastic reviews. The Herald Tribune wrote, "There are not so many books that, sitting reading them alone, you find yourself laughing aloud over. This is one of them." Other rave reviews described the book as, "the perfect book for children" and "a children's book of the season that seems certain to stay."
