Pictorial printed cloth book. Titles in black and illustration of Struwwelpeter printed in red and green to the upper cover, and of the Inky Boys to the rear cover. 40 Original designs by Hoffman, each page decorated with brightly coloured illustrations of the unfortunate children. A good copy, spine faded, somewhat externally tanned and frayed to the edges, but internally still bright and clean.
Dean's Rag Books was founded in 1903 to create sturdy books which could be washed for messy children.
Struwwelpeter was originally written and illustrated by Hoffman for his own son, but he was later convinced to publish it and it became a very popular collection of cautionary tales. There is even a statue of Struwwelpeter in Frankfurt.
