Alice's Adventures in Wonderland
Milford, 1926.
Second edition. 8vo. Blue buckram with cover and spine vignette and titles in black and gilt. Top edge gilt others untrimmed. In original cream slipcase with designs reproducing the covers in brown and gilt. Pictorial endpapers and numerous small line drawings. Colour frontispiece and fifteen charming colour plates mounted onto grey card, with printed captions below. A near fine copy with a previous ownership inscription to the front free endpapers, in a very good slipcase indeed with some light foxing. An unusually bright copy.
This is a beautiful and wholly desirable edition of "Alice" - a contemporary review states that Jackson's Alice is "a sweeter and more winsome little person... the humour and fantasy and grotesqueness of the pictures even gain something by contrast with the attractive, very human little girl on whom they centre... and [it] will give delight to any child"
