A first English translation of these Cossack folk stories, translated from Ruthenian. The author notes that Ruthenian which "has been rigourously repressed by the Russian Government... possesses a noble literature, numerous folk songs... and justly admired folk-tales, many of them of great antiquity."
Tales include: Oh:The Tsar and the Forest; The Story of the Wind; The Tsar and the Angel; The Story of Ivan and the Daughter of the Sun.
