First edition, first issue with two pages of adverts. Original dark red pictorial cloth with gilt lettering on the spine and illustrations in blue-grey, yellow and black to spine and upper cover. Eight black and white illustrations by T. M. R. Whitwell. A very good copy indeed with minor fraying to the outside edge of the frontispiece and slight wear to the spine ends and corners.
