First edition. 8vo. Green cloth elaborately stamped in gilt. All edges gilt. Thirteen full page black and white illustrations, plus numerous illustrations in the text, by H. J. Ford. A fine copy, very bright, with some minor foxing.
The third of the Lang fairy book series. Comprises 42 tales from France, Germany, China etc., by the Brothers Grimm, Mdm d'Aulnoy, Comte de Caylus and others, and includes The Blue Bird, The Three Little Pigs and The Three Bears (Goldilocks). In the Preface, Lang writes "This is the third, and probably the last, of the Fairy Books" however popular demand resulted in a further nine being published, the last being The Lilac Fairy Book, issued in 1910.
