First edition. Number 108 of only 475 copies printed on handmade paper. Publisher's quarter cream cloth over patterned paper-covered boards, lettered in gilt on spine. Grey and black and white wood-engravings by Ethelbert White. A very good copy indeed, the edges a little rubbed.
The first English translation of Goldoni's comedy "Le Donne di Buon Umore", originally published in 1748. Written only a few years after his famous "Il Servitore di Due Padroni" (adapted as "One Man, Two Guvnors", which opened to international acclaim in 2014), Goldini uses the same humour and wit to satirise the social standards of 18th century Venetian culture.
