First edition. 8vo. Pictorial Japon wrappers illustrated in colour. Inscribed on the title page, "To 'Jean' from the artist, Jessie M King." In green ink Jessie has drawn a picture of a green gate and a small drawing of a rabbit, labelled 'Puska'. Eighteen black and white drawings and decorative title page. Text is written by Jessie. A fine copy.
Kirkcudbright became the much loved home of Jessie King and E.A. Taylor, as well as numerous other artists. The rabbit is Jessie's nickname and the gate represents "Greengate" her Scottish home.
