Author's presentation copy, inscribed to Brian Aldiss on the front endpaper, "For Brian Aldiss, this piece of local history with kind regards - Philip Larkin". Original salmon cloth in printed dustwrapper. A fine copy in a near fine dustwrapper with a faded spine.
Brian Aldiss, noted science fiction writer (and sometime poet) had a wide range of literary friends, though little exists to link him and Larkin beyond a very strong mutual connection with Kingsley Amis. It would seem probable that they were introduced by Amis on one of the latter's visits to Aldiss' home in Oxford.
