First edition. Original light brown flecked cloth, lettered in dark brown in dustwrapper illustrated by J.L. Carstairs. A near fine copy with a touch of foxing to the page edges in a very good dustwrapper with a little fraying to the spine ends and a few short closed tears with associated creasing.
The second of Forester's three early mystery thrillers, sitting between Payment Deferred (1926) and Plain Murder (1930). Seldom seen in a dustwrapper.
