First edition. 4to. Brown cloth with gilt spine lettering and illustrations in brown and black. Pictorial title page with Jessie King illustration in black and yellow. Four tipped in colour plates mounted onto green art paper. Many diagrams and drawings in the text, plus 16 black and white photographs of King's creations by Bruce Cameron. A very good copy, some overall signs of use, with plates and contents generally clean and bright.
This book came about when Jessie King showed a photograph of a dolls' house she had made to her editor. She presents a fairy tale type story, telling how a bored Miriam sets about making the components of a little white town out of card and material. The models are each based upon actual buildings in the artist's home town of Kircudbright.
