Twenty beautiful colour plates, under captioned tissue guards, and many black and white drawings. Rene Bull was an Irish born artist who became very well known as a war artist during the Armenian Massacres, the Boer Wars and the Sudan. Bull had a great interest in the art of the Orient and his travels to the Middle East provided him with a knowledge of Arab costume and customs which comes across beautifully in his two most celebrated books, The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam and The Arabian Nights. The plates here are full of Oriental colours mixed with an Art Nouveau style.
