First edition. 4to. Original blue cloth with gilt titles and gilt decoration to upper cover based on a design by the author. Twenty two black and white illustrations from photographs of the village, its surroundings and some of the more noteworthy houses, protected by tissues guards (one of which is missing). In a pocket to the rear is a table of the Manorial Lords of Shiplake. A very good copy, hinges starting and with some rubbing to the edges. Name inked in on the front free endpaper.
A very interesting local history item written in gossipy style intended originally as a small leaflet, which gradually developed into the very large tome which was eventually published.
