First edition. Square 4to. Cloth backed paper covered boards with colour onlay to the upper cover. Inscribed by the author on the front pastedown, though inscription is faded and not easily discernible. Two colour plates for each animal featured mounted on above the other, making a total of 32 illustrations. A very good copy, small nick to the upper cover illustration.
Pycraft was a member of the zoological department at the British Museum and in this book answers provides the answers to such questions such as, "Why do bats fly at night?" and "Why does a fox wear a brush?."
