First edition. 8vo. Paper covered boards with Ardizzone line drawing on upper cover. Inscribed on the front free endpaper from Ardizzone to his mother, "To darling Mum, with love and very best wishes for xmas." Crabbe's poem in praise of books illustrated with 13 line drawings by Ardizzone in his usual witty way. A very good copy of this delightful association copy, with a small chip to the top of the spine.
This is Ardizzone's scarce second book and his style is already well developed, the lines are a little heavier than some of his later works.
