Guy Nickalls rowed for Eton College, where due to his reckless behaviour he gained the nickname of Luni. He was a member of the Eton Eight which won the Ladies Challenge Cup at Henley in 1885. Then went on to row for Oxford, taking part in the Boat Race on five occasions, winning the University Pairs with WFD Smith (of W.H.Smith fame), University sculls in 1887 and University Fours 4 times. He was three times winner of Wingfield Sculls, beating Steve Fairbairn on one outing. Became President of OUBC and later the became Captain of Leander taking many prizes at Henley Royal Regatta. Nickalls was also a member of the Leander Eight which won Gold in the 1908 Olympics.
