First edition. Original red pictorial cloth, lettered in gilt to the spine. Black and white frontispiece and seven further black and white plates by T. M. R. Whitwell. A very good copy indeed, bright and clean with a little toning to the spine and slight wear to the enamel. 'The Captain' prize label to the front pastedown, where this story was first serialised.
Wodehouse's sixth book, originally serialised in The Captain, Wodehouse notes some changes made from the serialisation in his preface; "When this story was appearing serially in the Captain, some anonymous idiot wrote to the Editor pointing out certain errors in the camp chapters. I am obliged. If he reads these chapters now, he will observe - with a thrill of joy - that I have made the corrections he suggested."
