Coming Up for Air

ORWELL, George

PUBLISHER'S FILE COPY

ORWELL, George Coming Up for Air

Gollancz, 1939.

First edition. Original blue cloth in the yellow dustwrapper printed in black and magenta. A near fine copy with a little foxing to the fore edge, in a superb near fine dustwrapper with the publisher's rubber stamp to the upper cover and a modicum of toning to the spine, but an exceptionally bright, crisp copy.

Orwell's great novel of the Thames Valley, inspired largely by his childhood growing up in and around Henley-on-Thames. With an original print-run of only 2,000 copies, examples are now scarce, exceptionally so with the dustwrapper.

PROVENANCE: The Gollancz archive, stamped "FILE COPY" to the upper panel and to front free endpaper, with relevant pencil notation to the front free endpaper.
