Mrs Dalloway

WOOLF, Virginia

WOOLF, Virginia Mrs Dalloway

Hogarth Press, 1925.

First edition. Original brown cloth, lettered in gilt on the spine, in the Vanessa Bell designed dustwrapper. A fine copy in a very good dustwrapper indeed, which shows a little general foxing and a small chip to the head of the spine with associated wear, but is otherwise crisp and bright and entirely without repair.

Mrs Dalloway is regarded by many as the author's masterpiece, certainly it is one of her best-loved works. The dustwrapper is both one of Vanessa Bell's best designs for her and also famously fragile, so most examples have long since disintegrated. As a consequence, examples with no repair, restoration or sophistication are notoriously rare.

Kirkpatrick A9a: 2000 copies.
