First edition. Original buff cloth boards titled in black on the spine, in red and gold dustwrapper, printed on the verso of a remaindered dustwrapper for Margery Allingham's Traitor's Purse. A near fine copy, with light dustiness in a very good (price-clipped) dustwrapper indeed which shows some foxing to the back panel and a little wear to the head of the spine but is generally bright and well preserved.
Due to the wartime restrictions, this book was printed in small numbers and to a poor standard, with the wrapper printed on the verso of earlier remaindered dustwrappers. Consequently this book is rarely found with its dustwrapper and is more unusual still in nice condition.
