Billion Dollar Brain

DEIGHTON, Len

Billion Dollar Brain - ,

Cape, 1966.

First edition. Blue boards, lettered in gilt on the spine and with white computer punch tape design stamped on the upper cover, in the stylish silver foil dustwrapper. Pictorial endpapers. A very good copy, previous owner's name on the front free endpaper, in a very good dustwrapper which has light shelf wear and the usual scratches to the silver foil.

The fourth in a series of cold war spy novels featuring an unnamed protagonist, filmed in 1967 by Ken Russell, starring Michael Caine. When Russell filmed the first in Deighton's series, The Ipcress File, he needed a name for the anonymous secret agent and chose "Harry Palmer", because he wanted a dull, unglamorous name to distance him from Ian Fleming's James Bond.
