Handsomely bound in full crushed brown morocco, lettered in gilt on the spine and elaborate decoration stamped in blind to the boards and between the raised bands on the spine. Gilt page edges stamped with a criss-cross floral design. Silk page marker present. Marbled endpapers. Chromolithographic illustrations by Birket Foster and H.N. Humphries throughout. A very good copy, corners and edges rubbed, previous gift inscriptions on the ffep verso and some foxing throughout.
