First edition. 8vo. Red cloth with black lettering and tan illustration. Pictorial endpapers with olive line drawings. Eight full page colour plates, some silhouette drawings and many line drawings (some full page). A good only copy of the book, spine joint split and some line drawings coloured in by amateur hand.
There is a two page preface to this book written by Arthur Rackham in which he explains how he has chosen the fairy tales in this book. The tales are a selection of well know fairy tales; including, Sindbad the Sailor, Aladdin, Dick Whittington, Jack the Giant Killer, Cinderella and the Emperor's New Clothes. Although some of the stories have been previously illustrated by Rackham, all the illustrations for this book are new and have never been published before.
